Types of Student Aid

There are four main sources of financial aid to student loans, scholarships, grants and subsidies. Types of Student Aid ; which may differ in terms of what it means not having to ask for one, although you have to ask others. The following is a list of income sources and how to claim your taxes.

• Student Loans ;  Student loans are not considered taxable income because you are required to return the money. • Scholarships ; Fellowships and Scholarships: These are generally tax free, provided they are used for qualified education expenses. If you win a scholarship, the total amount is taxable unless it is specifically designated for educational expenses.
